The PSOE criticizes the "weak social policy of the PP, which after the disastrous management of the dining room scholarships, now dismisses 14 workers" (21/07/2020)

| Councilmen Enrique Lorca and Esther Nevado show their amazement at allowing the reduction of a necessary workforce to face this stage of crisis in which the number of people in social exclusion will increase | The Municipal Socialist Group warns that the social policy that the PP is developing makes water everywhere.

"If for weeks we denounced the non-payment of the dining room scholarships while the responsible councilor affirmed, promised and created false expectations with the food for minors, now we have to criticize the reduction in the workforce of social workers because, apparently, the Autonomous Community does not pay, "reports socialist councilor Esther Nevado. For his part, the mayor Enrique Lorca explains that "three years ago the Murcia City Council signed an agreement with the CARM by which fifteen new workers joined the Social Services.

However, when the aforementioned agreement was renewed this year, it has not arrived the money and the City Council have fired them, something that puzzles us for many reasons, among others, because if there is something that is not superfluous, they are professionals in this department.

In total, there are nine social workers and five administrative workers who have gone to the streets With which it is falling". Nevado specifies that "it is true that twelve new ones have been hired, but with funds from the central government, and twelve are less than fourteen, so we start with a clear disadvantage to face this stage in which the crisis derived from the Covid -19 is going to bring a greater number of people in a situation of social exclusion, so we believe that not doing the impossible to maintain a sufficient workforce is of tremendous irresponsibility, which coming from Councilwoman Pilar Torres is nothing new.

" In addition, Lorca points out that the contract of the twelve workers, financed with funds from the central government, was for 6 months, "so as the responsible councilor does not roll up her sleeves, she will not be able to face the great challenge that lies ahead, because what will happen when these twelve employees end the contract? " Likewise, Nevado recalls that, during the last April plenary session, "I presented a motion demanding that the ratio of one social worker for every 3,000 inhabitants be met, as required by the General Council of Social Work, and that was when the Councilor for Services Social promised to keep the fourteen who have now been fired.

" "Torres, who likes to take out press releases boasting of the number of people served but does not talk about the meager staff, nor have we read any explaining why the City Council has not done the impossible to maintain these staff, at the same time that it demanded from the Autonomous Community the payment of its payrolls as it was committed.

We do not understand what communication problem must exist between the two administrations so that the issues of social services are delayed when the damage is always for people who are already harmed ", declares. Likewise, Lorca also shows his amazement at this cut in the workforce, when "just point two of the social support measures, included in the Economic Reactivation Plan to deal with the Covid crisis, establishes the expansion gradually of the primary care staff of Social Services to lower the ratio of customer service.

We do not know if the PP does not know this Plan well or if it directly despises it.
