(ITREM).Murcia will thus become part of the Mediterranean Route (Eurovelo 8), which connects Cádiz with Athens, crossing the coastal regions of the Mediterranean, on a 6,000-kilometer route, of which 3,600 are through Spanish territory, almost 220 through the Region of Murcia and 43 by the municipality. The objective is to consolidate the municipality and the region as a bicycle tourism destination. In accordance with the agreement, the complete signaling of the route will be carried out by ITREM while the necessary conditioning or improvement actions on the roads will be carried out by the City Council in urban areas.
The ITREM will assume the improvements of the sections between municipalities far from urban areas. The maximum cost of this agreement for the ITREM is about 30,000 euros, basically corresponding to the estimated cost of the planned signage and improvements in the municipality of Murcia. The route will cover the municipal district of Murcia Sucina, La Tercia, San José de la Vega, Ronda Sur and the section of La Fica.In this way, it seeks to promote the natural and cultural resources of the municipality through bicycle touring.
