Local Police will have three hybrid off-road vehicles (26/06/2020)

| The acquisition of these vehicles will facilitate the work of officers, increase security levels and immediate attention throughout the municipality and will contribute to improving air quality | The Governing Board has given the go-ahead to the specification for the supply of three hybrid off-road vehicles for the Local Police for which a maximum price of 140,360 euros will be allocatedOne of the Government Team's priorities is to reinforce the resources, both human and material, available to the Local Police since Murcia is one of the most extensive and decentralized municipalities in Spain and the acquisition of these vehicles will facilitate Police officers serve the entire territory more effectively.In this way, the acquisition of these vehicles, in addition to facilitating the work of the agents, allows increasing the levels of security and immediate attention throughout the municipality.The Department of Citizen Security and Economic Management works to incorporate sustainable vehicles into the Local Police fleet in order to reduce emissions, in line with the municipal Clean Air strategy, which is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and improving air quality, creating a more sustainable city.Thus, the acquisition of two hybrid patrol vehicles and two electric motorcycles is already in tender.Renewal of the police fleetIt must be remembered that at the Governing Board on May 22, it gave the go-ahead for the procurement of the supply of nine vehicles to the Local Police, while on April 29 the acquisition of the first two motorcycles was approved of the Local Police for the Ecological Patrol.In addition, last March 13 new mobile units were presented to the agents: 8 motorcycles, 4 vans and a truck, which were added to the existing ones, reaching 282 units. In 2016, 2 SUVs, 13 passenger cars, a mobile radar car for speed controls and 5 motorcycles were added to the fleet.

In 2017, 7 SUVs were added to increase the police presence in the countryside and mountain areas of the districts.

Last fall the Murcia Local Police included two drones in their equipment to monitor areas of difficult access, devices that can reach up to 72 km / h and ascend to a height of 6,000 meters.
