| José Ballesta signs the decree that includes the composition of the twenty members that make up this plural and participative body | The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, signed this morning the decree that includes the composition of the Municipal Council of Social Services, a body of plural participation and consultative, which will have representatives of various institutions, entities and associations in the third sector , to face the post-alarm social crisis, generated by COVID-19.This body will analyze and propose various urgent social measures, together with professionals from the City Council's Social Services, and will be chaired by the Mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta; who will convene in the next few days the representatives appointed today to hold a first session.This advisory body of a social nature will have around twenty members, among which the representatives of the following entities stand out: EAPN-RM (Network for the Fight against Poverty and Social Exclusion of the Region of Murcia), Spanish Committee of Representatives of People with Disabilities (CERMI), Platform for Volunteering in the Region of Murcia, Fundación Secretariado Gitano, Unicef-Murcia Committee, Federation of African Associations of Murcia, Federation of Women's Centers in the municipality of Murcia.Psychologists, workers and social educatorsLikewise, the Social Services Council will be made up of members of the following professional associations: Social Work, Social Educators, Psychologists and Lawyers of Murcia.On the other hand, institutions such as the University of Murcia, the Planning Service of the Community Ministry, the Murcian Institute of Social Action (IMAS) will also participate in the sessions of this body.On behalf of the municipal area of ??Social Services, the area director will attend, as well as the heads of Social Welfare and Welfare Administration.
Each of the political groups of the City Council (PP, PSOE, C's, Podemos Equo and Vox) will also have representation in said body.The Council has, among other functions, to promote coordination and cooperation between the representative entities of the different sectors of the population, to promote the participation of activities aimed at their social, cultural, personal and labor promotion through participation bodies and sectoral representations.
