The agreement between both institutions also includes support for the activities of the University Digital Innovation Center (CIDU) and the University's participation in the global programs promoted by Santander.The University of Murcia and Banco Santander, through Santander Universities, have renewed the collaboration agreement that both institutions have maintained for more than 20 years and thanks to which the entity will continue to support international mobility, research, entrepreneurship and employability programs; as well as actions that promote innovation in the digital field.
The rector of the University of Murcia, José Luján, and Matías Rodríguez Inciarte, president of Santander Universities, held a virtual meeting on Wednesday to seal the renewal of the agreement.Santander's support to the University of Murcia will translate annually into various programs that revolve around three key axes: education, with 39 grants for Research Santander - UMU, 62 International Mobility Grants ILA Santander - UMU and Study Grants Santander; employability, through the Santander - UMU Internship program to facilitate the incorporation of students into the world of work; and entrepreneurship, through the initiatives 'Start the flight' 'Undertake your TFG-TGM' 'Academic entrepreneurs', to support researchers in their development of business initiatives, 'Entrepreneurial skills' and the Social Entrepreneurship program - Yunus Center .The agreement between the two institutions also includes support for the activities of the University Digital Innovation Center (CIDU) and the participation of the University of Murcia in the global programs promoted by Banco Santander, such as the Santander Iberoamerica international mobility scholarships, the Santander Scholarships.
Erasmus, the Santander Progreso Scholarships and participation in the Explorer university entrepreneurship program, within the framework of Santander X.In addition to talking about all the common projects and programs, the rector and the president of Santander Universities have talked about the participation of the UMU in The SUPERA COVID 19 Fund that Santander has promoted with all Spanish universities.
Banco Santander contributes 8.5 million euros through this fund, aimed at financing programs, collaborative projects and support measures for the university environment to minimize the impact of the crisis caused by the coronavirus in the health, educational and social spheres.
The program has the collaboration of Crue Spanish Universities that manages this call. One of the lines of The SUPERA COVID 19 Fund is dedicated to helping to alleviate the digital divide in students at a time when virtual teaching has centered academic life.
As part of this line of action, the University of Murcia has received 269 laptops, 337 SIM cards with 90Gb for 3 months and 97 WebCam TpLink. The rector of the UMU, José Lujan, has reiterated his thanks to Santander Universities for their support in various initiatives and for the constant collaboration they maintain in various programs.
On the other hand, the renewal of this agreement reaffirms the commitment between both institutions and contributes through the promotion of research and the transfer of knowledge to alleviate, to a certain extent, the terrible consequences that this pandemic is generating. For his part, the president of Santander Universities, Matías Rodríguez Inciarte, has congratulated the Rector and the entire university community for the important effort they have made throughout this crisis to maintain the quality levels of teaching and their adaptation to the virtual education and thanked the trust placed in Santander for years in Santander and its commitment to higher education.
