The Department of Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration has renewed in the last year more than 4,000 points of light distributed in nearly 200 locations in Murcia and districts, reducing the emission of more than 751,000 Kg of CO2 into the atmosphere and saving of more than 200,000 eurosThe City Council, through the Department of Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration, continues with the work of improving public lighting in different streets and districts of the municipality of Murcia, within the Murcia Smart City strategy, which advocates in this case for favor the improvement of the environment, the security of the area and contribute to the improvement of the quality of the residents of the municipality. Councilor José Guillén, head of the Public Lighting Service, visited this morning the actions that are being undertaken in the Historiador Juan Torres Fontes Garden, where 30 points of light are being replaced, as well as in the Plaza Pintor Muñoz Barberán, where 13 light points have been replaced, for a total of 43, with a total installed power that goes from 4,730 W to 2,107 W. These luminaires have a unique design that makes it possible to integrate it properly in urban areas.
In addition, they are equipped with bidi service labels, a QR-based identification system that allows each luminaire to be uniquely identified and provide maintenance and installation information. “These new luminaires offer all the latest lighting innovations in terms of performance, light quality and connectivity, allowing us to know the status of each of them in real time.
This will allow us to reduce the emission of 4,000 kilos of CO2 into the atmosphere ”José Guillén highlighted.This new lighting will allow these spaces to be more visible, also adding security for the residents of the area.

It is a concentration that is characterized by having a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity and by being rapidly bactericidal, without leaving any type of toxic residue.The tasks are being carried out by a total of eight people, distributed in six work teams: two of them will have a 100-liter tank mounted on a van and the other four will have manual fumigation systems.
Operators are provided with raincoats, masks and gloves, following established safety protocols. These actions are being carried out in a total of 67 districts and neighborhoods.
