| José Ballesta visits the Pot of Solidarity of Puente Tocinos, a project launched during the pandemic from which 400 daily menus are produced | The Mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the Councilor for Pedanías y Barrios, Marco Antonio Fernández, and the Councilor for Social and Family Rights, Pilar Torres, visited this morning the Puente Bacon Solidarity Pot, a project launched during the pandemic to deliver food to vulnerable families, from which more than 400 solidarity menus are being distributed in around twenty districts and neighborhoods in Murcia every day."Generosity and solidarity define Murcians, as once again the residents of districts and neighborhoods are demonstrating to us by launching initiatives such as this, the Puente Tocinos Solidarity Pot, which has distributed more than 17,000 menus during the period of confinement, sending daily menus to the families that need them the most in these hard times, "said José Ballesta.The promoter of this project is Paco Molina, owner of the Mesón Don Pancho, located on Calle Mayor de Puente Tocinos, who started this initiative a week after the declaration of the state of alarm.
It has a team of about twenty volunteers, including chefs, delivery men, menu packers, etc.Puente Tocinos elaborates more than 400 solidarity menus every dayThe Puente Bacon Soup Pot offers 400 daily menus, consisting of a plate, a loaf of bread and dessert.
Different local companies are participating in this project by donating food, such as the Costa Blanca bakery in Sangonera and the Hermanos Beteta bakery in Los Ramos.All the fruit is being donated by the company Carmelo El del Perejil and the potatoes by Patatas BP.
In addition to its facilities, the Mesón Don Pancho provides products for the dishes.
