The Department of Social Rights has been in charge of coordinating and putting its capacity at the service of aid from solidarity projects that were born with the vocation of providing sustenance to those who need it most.In Alquerías, one of the latest initiatives launched was launched this morning.

Taberna El Saro has distributed food daily to more than 200 people in the last few weeks and now it is temporarily stopping its help because it has completely resumed its commercial activity.To keep alive a distribution network of food and basic necessities, the Department of Social Rights, the Municipal Board and entities such as Cáritas, the Red Cross and the Food Bank have designed a campaign to collect food and distribute it to those most in need.The mayor Pilar Torres has come to Alquerías today for the launch of this solidarity project and thanked "the disinterested collaboration of the Taberna El Saro during the last weeks organizing the 'olla solidaria' and the effort of all the neighbors who have organized the campaign that begins today to continue helping those most in need "Toiletries and hygiene, diapers and jarsThe councilor also pointed out that "we are going to collaborate to carry out an awareness campaign among the residents of Alquerías so that they donate food, basic necessities, basic articles for cleaning and hygiene, diapers and baby food."The City Council and third sector entities developed a territorial map for food distribution to guarantee access to all neighborhoods and districts of the municipality.
In collaboration with the presidents of the municipal boards, the coordination of the distribution network in each territory will be promoted.
The arrival of food to vulnerable families is a priority for the Government Team."We deeply appreciate the work that has been carried out in a disinterested way by all the people and groups that have put their shoulders to help those who need it most.
They are a source of pride and an example that shows us the path we must follow," said the mayor.
Towers.The delivery service serves 2,016 people throughout the municipalityThe Department of Social Rights currently guarantees access to basic food for 2,016 people at risk of exclusion.
The Prevention and Social Insertion Service serves 686 families, with 619 minors and 1,563 adults.
In May the service was expanded to 184 more families.Through a territorial map, the City Council has ensured that the distribution of food is present throughout the municipality, reaching districts in which it was not present, such as Corvera, Sucina, Valladolises, Cañadas de San Pedro and Rincón de Seca.Cáritas Diocesana, Cruz Roja and the Food Bank are the distribution entities that ensure the arrival of basic food to all corners of Murcia.The 40 social work units that the Department of Social Rights has also perform a fundamental task because its members are in charge of managing the support network designed to guarantee the supply of food products.
