The Executive Commission of the Trade Union Section of SOMOS SINDICALISTAS, with representation in the Murcia City Council, has unanimously approved the following COMMUNIQUE: We have asked for protection and protection for our affiliates, for the workers and for the citizens of the city of Murcia in a complaint filed with the Anticorruption Prosecutor of the Region of Murcia.

In the exercise of our responsibilities at the Murcia City Council. We understand that the management of the health crisis against Covid19 in the Murcia City Council has not only been disastrous and irresponsible, but has also been able to violate fundamental rights such as disclosure and dissemination of specially protected data and those inherent in Freedom of Association.

This is long overdue, as we have already denounced the alleged violation of the right to inviolability of communications from our union delegate after the opening of a letter from the Labor Inspectorate regarding a complaint against the city council itself. The security to which the workers of the Murcia City Council are entitled, regarding their health, lacks an Occupational Risk Prevention Service dimensioned to a staff of more than 2,800 workers and adapted to current legislation.

Matter known by the Corporation and its freely appointed personnel in Human Resources after the Request of the Provincial Inspection of Labor and Social Security of Murcia (JUNE 2019), issued after our complaint. This situation has led to facing this pandemic without having the minimum means provided by Law, both personal and material.

The Corporation has dedicated itself to acting without an Occupational Risk Prevention Service (disappeared), without the required technicians and passing the consultation and participation of the occupational risk prevention delegates, one of whom, with the support of this section union, informed the government delegate in Murcia such behaviors through three registered requests. The political power, without the oversight of the officials designated by the legal methods of filling positions in the Public Administrations, makes and breaks at will, perpetuating with its magic finger personnel at the highest official levels without evaluating the merit and professional capacity of the most prepared. Inaction that has been enduring for dozens of years, denounced by this union section since its constitution in 2015.

When occupational risk goes from risk to certain damage, responsibilities are generated that we will not hesitate to point out.

There are already several municipal workers with damage to their health that could have been avoided by following the minimum established protection procedures. The responsibilities, indemnities and other expenses that may derive from these acts do not have to be paid by citizens.

So we have requested that it be the personal assets of each person involved in irresponsibility who faces it.
