José Manuel Loca Planes, has decided that the image of the Virgin of la Fuensanta remains in the first temple of the Diocese until September when, attending to security measures that Health determines for that moment, it will be established when and in what way the patron saint of the city of Murcia will return to her sanctuary in Algezares.
"We believe that the best thing is for the Virgin to be close to Murcia at these difficult times, so that everyone can go to see her at the Cathedral, pray serenely before her, and feel her closeness and maternal protection," she says.

The patron saint of the capital arrived on March 5 at the Cathedral, where she should have stayed during Lent, Easter and the Spring Festival, until April 28, when she should have returned to her sanctuary in the mountains.
However, taking into account the isolation measures to prevent the spread of the Covid-19, the Cabildo decided to postpone the pilgrimage up and now to extend the Virgin's stay in the city, at least until September, when her feast is celebrated.The solemnity of the Virgen de la Fuensanta is celebrated every year on the Sunday following September 8.
The Cabildo has already expressed its intention to celebrate this liturgical feast "whenever the situation allows it and following the safety instructions that Health has established for that time," says Tudela.
