The PSOE asks Ballesta to urge the Regional Government to adopt measures that minimize the impact of Covid in the primary sector (19/05/2020)

"We cannot forget the great weight that farmers and agricultural productions have in our economy, let alone neglect them," explains the socialist mayor Andrés Guerrero. The Municipal Socialist Group is concerned about the primary sector of the municipality of Murcia.

For this reason, he will present a motion at the next plenary session of the Murcia City Council to ask the mayor to take charge of the situation and find ways to support it.

The councilor, Andrés Guerrero, requests in this motion that the City Council be the one to urge the regional government to allocate economic contributions that help the recovery of this sector.

"The City Council is the institution closest to the citizen and we must find a way to help the thousands of workers in our municipality who depend on this sector, never cross our arms.

It is the obligation of Ballesta to urge the Autonomous Community to financially support and our remind you, "says Guerrero. "Hospitality, tourism or culture are not the only ones affected by the coronavirus crisis.

The agricultural sector will also suffer the consequences of this pandemic and, therefore, the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia must start up measures that minimize the impact of COVID-19 and guarantee the continuity of the sector and therefore the collection of products from the orchard and the field.

We cannot forget the great weight that farmers and agricultural productions have in our economy, no less still neglect them, "explains the socialist mayor. "We ask the Regional Government to adopt measures as the central government has done and other communities and even municipalities are doing to guarantee the harvest of the most productive fruit campaigns of the year in our Region," continues Guerrero.

"These items would complement the aid that has already been allocated from the central government and could mean a fundamental contribution to the sector," says Guerrero. In the same way that the Government of the nation acts, we ask the Regional Government to respond.

The measures of the Government of Spain must be involved and accompanied with contributions from the Autonomous Community.

"Concludes the mayor.
