Municipal museums celebrate International Museum Day virtually (15/05/2020)

More than 90 artists will present their works online with the Artillery Barracks, the Science and Water Museum presents two exhibitions, the City Museum shows pieces from private collections and the Gaya offers a different perspective of its collectionThe different municipal museums and cultural spaces join the International Museum Day 2020 under the motto 'Museums for equality: diversity and inclusion', which this year, due to the coronavirus pandemic, will be celebrated virtually."Our objective is to raise awareness about museums as an important means for cultural exchange, enrichment of cultures and the development of mutual understanding," said the Councilor for Culture and Recovery of Heritage, Jesús Pacheco.The proposed activities, all online, with the following:Artillery BarracksThe Artillery Barracks will present on Saturday, May 16, at 12 noon, the online presentation by the Director of EVE, Museums and Innovation Ricardo Cano, who will offer a live talk through the barracks streaming channel.

Is titled 'Covid-19, reinvention of museums'.At 6:00 pm, thanks to the Trazo 6 collective, a large virtual exhibition of 90 Murcian artists will be presented on the mvmart .org page of the new MVM Virtual Exhibition Millennium that will be presented this day.Museum of Science and WaterThe Museum of Science and Water will open on Monday the virtual exhibition 'Anthropocene', a project by the artist Eduardo Cortils that reflects on this new era, characterized by the strong impact of the human being on the Earth, as well as its repercussions, such such as the loss of biodiversity and climate change.In addition, the participatory virtual exhibition 'Clouds' will be presented, arising from the call made by the museum, and which has had an important repercussion among the public, with shipments arriving from all over Spain and even from other countries such as Colombia, which have sent photos of clouds taken from his window in full confinement.Another activity is the presentation of the Annual Report for the year 2019, which reviews all the activities and the programming that the museum carried out during the past year, in which the greatest number of visits was achieved of our history.In addition, throughout the week virtual activity and social networks will be very important, on Facebook, Twitter and Youtube.Museum of the CityThe Museum of the City will present the participatory virtual exhibition 'The Museum at Home', which will show the images of the pieces from private collections that, disinterestedly, they have sent to make the period of confinement more bearable.

This exhibition can be 'visited' on the museum's website and on social media.The video obtained thanks to the collaboration of the participants of the sixth edition of the reading club 'Café con Texto 2019-20' and the annual report of activities 2019 will also be announced.During all these days, dissemination and content creation actions are being carried out on social networks with the slogans indicated by ICOM and Museum Week.

All these contents can be consulted on the museum's profiles on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, as well as on the museum's website.Ramón Gaya MuseumThe Ramón Gaya Museum will work with images from other editions to show a more egalitarian, diverse and inclusive museum.

Thus, a selection of images of the activities carried out in recent years (in Plaza Santa Catalina, through dance and music, etc ...) will be shown on social networks, to have a different vision of the collection.
