The book published in the "Pierides" collection of the Cambridge Scholars Publishing, and edited by the researcher at the University of Murcia (UMU) Consuelo Ruiz Montero, aims to deepen the knowledge of the ways of circulation of Greek texts during the Roman Empire, a subject little explored yet. In the issue, the author includes twelve contributions by experts, where Greek texts, both literary and epigraphic, are analyzed, how they are disseminated, and their contact with material culture and with other Egyptian and Latin literary works. In the book's introduction, Ruiz Montero explains the polysemic concept of "orality", which can be understood from three points of view: the production or procedures of writing the text, its enunciation or execution, and the dissemination of the text, that is, its transmission and reception.
A triple perspective that intersects and combines in textual practice; next, it traces a diachronic panorama dedicated above all to the forms and contexts in which this "orality" is presented in the imperial era. It is, therefore, an interdisciplinary monograph, and is accompanied by corresponding illustrations.
There follows a very complete bibliography and three types of indexes: of cited texts, of subjects, and of Greek terms. Origin of the work The book originates from an international congress organized by the publisher in Cartagena in June 2014, as stated in the preface, where he thanks the financial aid he received for said congress from the UMU, the "Seneca Foundation" and the Ministry of Economy, Industry, and Competitiveness.
