The Telecare Service extends its coverage to any urgent demand during the state of alarm (27/04/2020)

| José Ballesta: "This is a service that is available 24 hours a day, covering all cases of urgent care that are registered during the period of confinement "| The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the councilor for Social and Family Rights, Pilar Torres, supervised this morning the operation of the Telecare service of the Murcia City Council, which currently serves 3,089 people and guarantees immediate attention in the event of any emergency and social demand during the period of confinement."This is a service that is available 24 hours a day, covering all new urgent care cases that are registered during the state of alarm and immediately channeling any need that users request," said José Ballesta, who added that “this service also provides support to our elders, making them feel accompanied in these hard times”.Telecare is completed with the Home Care services (2,121 users) and Meals at Home —which supplies 2,000 menus per month and from which 239 users benefit—, which have been reconfigured in the face of the health crisis, keeping contracts 100% active of provision and expanding its coverage to any demand for urgent care."Since the state of alarm began, the Murcia City Council has intensified social care, which has shot up 48% during the period of confinement."68% of users exceed 2 years of permanenceAccording to data reflected in the 2019 financial year, there is a high permanence in the Telecare service, given that 68% of the people who receive it have a permanence of more than 2 years.The number of people currently attending the Telecare device exceeds the registered users throughout 2019, which were 3,078, although at a given moment there was a peak of 3,351 users.The profile of the dependent person using the municipal telecare service is female (78%), over 80 years old (74%), with medium autonomy (59%) and living alone (62%).

Likewise, the Teleassistance device managed 145,803 calls throughout 2019.Help at home to more than 2,000 MurciansThe City Council maintains and intensifies the complete activity of the Home Care Service, which serves more than 2,000 Murcians through personal care and personal toilets, as well as the preparation and administration of meals.Specifically, the Home Care service serves a total of 1,108 people, mostly elderly and dependent users, who are receiving home help services for personal care and basic domestic tasks.In addition, since it is an essential service during the current health crisis, 1,013 other users of the service are receiving daily telephone attention and follow-up, through their home care assistant.

These are people whose service was temporarily suspended as a preventive measure, since they are being cared for by family members during confinement, but who have been provided with daily and close contact with their reference worker.In this way, the City Council guarantees that the face-to-face services required by users are activated at any time depending on the evolution of each family situation.A human team of 360 workersMore than 360 workers make up the Home Care device, including municipal technicians, social workers, psychologists and home care aides, who remain active and on alert to adapt the intensity and type of services to each particular situation.The close coordination between professionals with the companies that provide the services and the regional Administration to detect situations that require urgent attention guarantees the care of the environment of any elderly, dependent, disabled or at-risk person.In the last week, 14 new discharges to the Home Care Service have been registered for situations that required urgent attention.

People with disabilities and families in situations of social difficulty also benefit from this type of service.New discharges of the Food Service at HomeThe City Council continues to provide home delivery meals to 239 elderly people in the municipality, a service to which 15 new registrations have been incorporated in recent days.

All the demands received during the alert state are being attended to, guaranteeing the elderly and dependents the daily menu supply.In addition, the family respite service has been maintained for 10 people who are disabled and dependent, with the aim of supporting their family caregivers due to the vulnerable situation in which they find themselves, which has been aggravated by the current health crisis.Coordination between administrationsThe City Council has carried out the reconfiguration process of the Home Care service according to the recommendations of the Ministry of Social Rights, in order to guarantee that the services are adapted immediately and personalized to each beneficiary person.Likewise, the City Council maintains close coordination with the Autonomous Community to articulate access to the regional Telecare service, launched through a line 900, so that no situation of detected need is left unattended.
