Under the motto #NoEstudianteBatrásUMU, the objective of this solidarity campaign is precisely that no student is forced to abandon their university studies for strictly economic reasons.
UMU staff may voluntarily donate 0.7% of their annual gross salary, or another alternative amount, in a campaign open to all staff in the university community. In addition, this project will also donate funds to the faculties, vice-rectorships, projects, services and units of the UMU.

Along these lines, it is intended that the Murcian business network that has not been hit by the crisis can help students to continue studying. This donation has a very favorable tax treatment, since in the personal income tax the donor may deduct up to 75% of the amount donated.
The donation period will last until May 30, 2020. The UMU Scholarship service will be the body responsible for processing student aid.
The amount and distribution of aid will be resolved by a commission made up of the different university groups.
The amount of funds raised as the number of applications will determine the final amount of aid, which in a first call will be intended to help pay for the registration of the 2020-2021 academic year. Student aid Those who request these grants must be enrolled in this 2019-2020 academic year and will justify that their family unit is affected by an economic situation derived from the coronavirus, specifying the reason for their request, the amount of the request and what they will allocate these grants to. The campaign #NoEstudianteBatrásUMU will be divided into different calls, the first in May 2020, where the aid will be used mainly to pay tuition for the 2020-2021 academic year.
Later there will be more calls that will be devoted to other expenses complementary to the study, such as transportation, teaching materials or housing rental. Rozalén joins the campaign The UMU has released a video through social networks in which three students narrate in first person the economic difficulties they are going through, which has messages of support such as that of the singer and songwriter Rozalén, who precisely studied Psychology at this institution.

Precisely, José Luján, explained that although public administrations will develop aid programs, it is possible that they will be late, or insufficient, so the public university "is obliged to give an exceptional response to an exceptional situation", in addition to "promoting solidarity, social responsibility and collaborative culture ". An inexpensive lifeguard "This campaign allows us to agilely provide an economic lifeline to those students who have been fully affected by the economic crisis," argued Luján. In his opinion, "we have to support our students more than ever, so that they continue their studies and strengthen, with the help of everyone, the structure of the institution." For this reason, it encouraged all administration and services staff, as well as teaching and research staff, students, providers, private companies and Murcian society to participate in #NoEstudianteAtrásUMU. "Because leaving no one behind is one of the great ideas of the United Nations' 2030 Agenda, more than ever we must strive to build a more inclusive society, in which we guarantee access to higher education," he said.
"Only in this way will we offer the same opportunities for professional development in a more equitable and sustainable world.
The public university must be maintained as a mechanism of protection and social advancement," summarized the president of the UMU.
