The City Council carries out a telephone monitoring of the most vulnerable families of the 1,005 social homes (09/04/2020)

The social section of the Housing service has so far contacted more than 150 families to find out their health, detect basic product needs and home care, as well as incidents and urgent breakdowns that are occurring in the municipal park of households

The social section of the Housing service is monitoring the most vulnerable families who live in the 1,005 social dwellings in the municipal park by telephone to find out the state of health of the person or the family unit.

In this way, the Housing service is detecting basic needs, food, medicine, among other products, and cases where it is deemed appropriate to carry out some type of specific intervention are being referred to the Social Services;

and to the technical section, in the case of urgent incidents in the home;

in addition to reminding them of the recommendations and hygiene measures planned to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

The follow-up work, which began a few weeks ago in block I of the 507 homes in the Infante Juan Manuel neighborhood, continues these days in the rest of the homes in the municipal park, Espiritu Santo neighborhood of Espinardo, block II of the Infante Juan Manuel, El Progreso, Barriomar, Corvera, La Murta, Lobosillo, Gea and Truyols, Beniaján and Los Ramos, among others.

So far, the social section of the Housing service has been able to contact more than 150 families selected based on the following profiles:

People over 60 years old who live alone and / or with their partner.

Families with a member with a disability

Single parent

Economic difficulties

Foreign families with language difficulties

Families with little support in the environment

Tenant families of the Campo de Murcia that, being more isolated, have been selected to follow up.

A third of the interviewees live alone

In general, most of the families contacted claim to have some kind of support, especially those who live alone and are over 60 years old, practically a third of those interviewed: from children who bring them the purchase, home help, someone who He comes at night to sleep accompanied, food at home, etc., although they complain about the loneliness they are experiencing during the days of confinement.

During the telephone follow-up, a significant number of large families with minors and with significant financial problems and as many cases of family units with a member with a disability have also been detected.

Some of these families who have been monitored have informed the Housing Service that they have already contacted the social worker in the area due to financial problems or because there are minors at home who do not have a computer to carry out the Homeworks.

Other families with health problems have informed the Social section of Housing that they are receiving care from the health center for follow-up of any illness.

"This monitoring is allowing us to maintain direct contact with the most vulnerable families, a job that we will continue to carry out over the next few weeks with the rest of the tenants of the social housing to listen to them, attend to them and have an adjusted x-ray of the situation that allows us to adopt new measures depending on the needs and problems detected, "said the head of the Housing service, Paqui Pérez.

Finally, the councilor for the Elderly, Disability and Development Cooperation has thanked the Housing service for its involvement because "at this moment a phone call becomes a minute of hope and hope for many people, as many of the families you have contacted. "
