The Governing Board has approved the direct acquisition of two self-propelled vehicles of metric width owned by the Sociedad Renfe Viajeros Sociedad Mercantil Estatal for the training of firefighters in the Campo de Maniobras in San Ginés.
In this way, the members of the Fire and Rescue Service will be able to carry out practices for the release of vehicles in different situations, with a simulation of stretches of road and railroad tracks.
The train cars purchased are two models of the 2600 series that are in the Renfe workshop in Cartagena and will be installed on the traffic esplanade of the new San Ginés Maneuvering Field.
These wagons, in which 9,801 euros have been invested, will be used to carry out different maneuvers and firefighting and rescue exercises with the characteristics of this type of transport.
It must be remembered that with the new San Ginés Maneuvering Field, the members of the Fire Extinguishing and Rescue Service will have a space that allows training activities to be carried out in the most realistic conditions possible, simulating emergency actions in the face of a wide variety of scenarios.
The ultimate goal is to improve the professional training of the staff of the Fire Extinguishing and Rescue Service of the Murcia City Council, training that will result in quality in the provision of the service, and therefore, in the safety of citizens.
This initiative aims to offer a high qualification to the firefighters of the Murcia City Council for the provision of their functions in emergency situations and public catastrophes.
It also seeks to bring the Fire Service closer to the population, since it will become a fire prevention outreach center for schools, associations, centers and companies.
