25 Civil Protection volunteers provide service every day in the municipality (05/04/2020)

During the Coronavirus COVID 19 alert episode, the Civil Protection Volunteers group of the Murcia City Council is involved in carrying out logistical functions and supporting other municipal services for the benefit of the population.

From Monday to Sunday, 25 volunteers are on duty from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., receiving communications from the coronavirus information line 900 121212 to manage actions in the municipal area and supporting the Local Police and SEMAS.

Among the different tasks they carry out is that of collaborating in the distribution of food with Caritas and SEMAS to 30 families.

Snorkel masks are also being collected from individuals who contact the Civil Protection to transfer them to the OSS company for transformation into respirators.

So far 35 units have been donated.

Whoever wishes to donate it can call the Town Hall telephone number 968358600 and dial extension 3886

In addition, daily they collect material that they deliver to more than 30 seamstresses who altruistically make masks, material that is received from donations managed by a university professor (more than 2,500 masks) and others by the Claudio Galeno Institute (1,500 masks ), both destined for the Murcian Health Service.

Likewise, they collaborate with the Virgen de la Arrixaca University Hospital in the distribution of medication at home, on Tuesdays and Fridays, to 30 patients with serious pathologies and at great risk of contracting COVID-19 who cannot be transferred to the hospital due to this risk.

Collaboration has also been carried out with La Arrixaca for the transport of material that citizens and companies had previously donated (1,500 masks, 1,000 robes and 800 leggings), and some 800 protective screens have also been donated by individuals.

In support of SMS 061, 90 health assistances have been carried out with 2 possible COVI-19s from the day the state of alarm was decreed until today.

In addition, volunteers circulate through the city and districts informing the population with a public address system so that they comply with the state of alert.

Patrols are carried out in support of the Local Police to supervise that the citizens comply with the confinement ordered by the state of alarm, and, in case of detecting that it is not being complied with by any citizen, they are informed of the obligation and in If they do not agree, the police are notified.

They have also collaborated in the assembly of the Cagigal Pavilion and in the transfer of homeless people to the different shelters.

In total during this month of March, between the volunteers from Murcia and districts, more than 1,300 hours have been carried out.
