The Governing Board has approved the granting of subsidies from the Department of Sports and Health to the Red Cross and the Association of Families and People with Mental Illness AFES.
The first of these, amounting to 50,000 euros, will serve to continue serving relief and emergency services in the municipality.
In this way, the needs of the most disadvantaged groups in emergency situations and those of the participants in public events, celebrations and sports events held in the municipality will be covered, making available to the City Council the infrastructure, material resources and volunteers of Cruz Red.
The agreement, which has been in force since 1996, will last for one year and will be automatically extended.
On the other hand, the granting of aid to the Association of Families and Persons with Mental Illness AFES, amounting to 4,500 euros, will allow the development of the project "Program for social educator for chronic mentally ill patients".
This program increases the quality of life, autonomy and social management capacity of the center's users between the ages of 16 and 65.
What is intended is to carry out activities aimed at the interaction and social reintegration of these people affected by chronic mental illness, through the intervention of a specialized social educator that allows facilitating autonomy, social management capacity and quality of life. of these people.
Currently the association has a Day Center, with about 75 daily users, which was built on a plot that the Murcia City Council gave up.
The plot, located in Santiago and Zaraiche, has an area of ​​247 square meters and its economic value amounts to almost 942,000 euros.
