"Generosity is one of the characteristics that defines Murcians and, once again, thousands of residents from different parts of Murcia and their districts are demonstrating this with the voluntary manufacture of masks and other sanitary materials, which are being donated to different collectives â€, highlighted the mayor José Ballesta.

In Zarandona they are making 4,000 masks thanks to the workers of the Oronovias company who, although they have temporarily stopped their activity, their staff have wanted to join this initiative on a voluntary basis.

The City Council finances the fabric necessary for its preparation, which meets all sanitary requirements.

Solidarity also comes from the hand of the Association of Neighbors of the Barrio de Santa Eulalia and the Association of Merchants of Santa Eulalia, which have launched two initiatives: the manufacture of twenty prescription glasses for occupational protection for exposed toilets - which They will be donated to the staff of the Reina Sofía Infectious Diseases unit, an action they intend to carry out in more hospitals in Murcia–, and the preparation of 1,800 masks that will be used for Healthcare and people who need them.

Both textile and eye materials are being produced in individual workshops, thanks to donations of material from the companies Almohadas Lora, Brisa Jardin, Sobrado Optometristas, and donations from the Women's Center of San Juan and Santa Eulalia and Ambiental SL, as well as from the associations' own funds.

Specifically, in this case there are twenty volunteer seamstresses who take the material to their homes, delivered by other volunteers.

This team of seamstresses has been reinforced this week with the participation of volunteers from the Federation of Supply Squares of the municipality.
