The University of Murcia, through the Applied Psychology Service (SEPA), together with the College of Physicians of the Region of Murcia and the Medical Union of the Region of Murcia CESM have created the EquilibriUM Project to provide psychological support to the professionals involved in the fight against the pandemic by coronavirus COVID19 in the Region and who need such help.
Professional organizations have identified that health workers are the group that is suffering the most from this global health crisis, the COVID19 pandemic.
They are the ones who are taking the most risk in carrying out their work, and suffer the most stress due to the exorbitant number of patients they attend to on a daily basis, the helplessness they suffer from not being able to solve this pathology and the suffering they see in patients and family members.
For this reason, professional psychological assistance is essential to cushion the impact of their daily work and avoid short and long-term problems that continued stress can generate.
The EquilibriUM project is part of the collaboration agreement signed between the University of Murcia and the College of Physicians last November 2019 to promote collaborative work between both institutions and promote joint actions.
This assistance will be carried out electronically and the professionals will be attended by one of SEPA's specialist psychologists, who will try to cover the healthcare objectives set by intervention in crises and catastrophes, where the priority is to mitigate anxiety and stress symptoms, facilitating adequate coping strategies, emotional management and prevention of post-traumatic stress.
Interested professionals can access this help voluntarily and free of charge, by contacting 968 22 22 15 and 610 28 04 47.
The professionals of the Applied Psychology Service of the University of Murcia have wanted to contribute with this initiative to combat this health crisis from psychological assistance;
a grateful gesture by professional organizations.
