The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, has instructed to centralize the direct purchase of masks for municipal workers who are fighting the pandemic on the front line and assisting those who need it most.
This decision has been taken jointly after a meeting held by videoconference in which the Councilor for Development, Mario Gómez, the Councilor for Citizen Security and Economic Management, Eduardo Martínez-Oliva, and the head of the Health service, Eduardo González, participated.
The City Council thus makes the direct acquisition from suppliers of personal protective equipment, consisting of masks, hydrogel and gloves, intended for officials and employees of subcontractors of the following essential services included in the Mayor's Decree: Local Police, Fire, Civil Protection , Social Services, Home Help, Public Health, Traffic and Public Transportation (buses and trams), Plazas and Markets, and other basic services such as IT.
The City Council has already made a first purchase with material to provide protection to Local Police officers.
Over the next 4 days, new equipment will arrive and the objective is to guarantee the permanent supply of personal protective equipment, for which reason new purchases of material will be made in the coming weeks.
