The Murcia City Council has activated a special cleaning device to stop the spread of the coronavirus, made up of 400 municipal workers, who are working intensively on cleaning and disinfecting the streets of Murcia and its districts.
The mayor José Ballesta has proposed through a video in his RRSS to dedicate the #AplausoColectivo of tonight in Murcia to "those 400 men and women of the Municipal Cleaning Service, who are leaving their skin and combing the streets for the welfare of all .
We are very proud of you.
You are essential â€.
"This device, which has about 200 vehicles, including 10 high-capacity tanks, performs its tasks every day, from Monday to Friday, carrying out its tasks more intensively at critical points, which are those that have the highest influx of people, as in the environments of hospitals, supermarkets and pharmacies â€, highlighted the Mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta.
Tomorrow will be added to this special device - which was activated last Friday, one day before the declaration of the State of Alarm - four new brigades that will comb the entire municipality, formed with the following mechanical means:
-Four cleaning vehicles, called tanks, with a capacity of 9,000 liters of water with disinfectant to clean large areas.
-Three hydro cleaning equipment with a capacity of 300 liters of water with disinfectant each, to thoroughly clean corners and areas with reduced access.
The critical points
The bus stops, as well as the environments of the elderly and disabled residences, hospitals, pharmacies, supermarkets, banks, tobacconists and near containers and litter bins are the spaces in which this brigade works with greater intensity.
Fast acting products
The operators are using for the cleaning and disinfection of the municipality a product of sodium hypochlorite - colloquially known as bleach.
It is a concentration that is characterized by having a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity and by being fast bactericidal, without leaving any type of toxic residue.
Specifically, the concentration is active chlorine diluted in water of 1,000 ppm (1,000 parts per million).
To carry out their tasks, disinfection operators are provided with raincoats, masks, gloves and protective glasses.
Complementary works in collaboration with the Community
The City Council has coordinated complementary disinfection tasks in collaboration with the Autonomous Community, which has made its forest brigades available to intensify these works at the bus station and tram stops, as well as in the settings of hospitals and nursing homes.
Waste collection and management protocol
In addition, the City Council has designed a protocol for the collection and management of waste in collaboration with the Ferrovial Servicios concessionary company, following the guidelines of the Ministry of Ecological Transition.
