José Antonio Serrano has also proposed that municipal personnel over 60 years of age be excluded from the minimum services, more attention to vulnerable people and an agreement with Radio Taxi Murcia to supply basic necessities to neighbors with difficulties.
The spokesman for the Municipal Socialist Group, José Antonio Serrano, has participated today in a new meeting of the Public Health Committee of the Murcia City Council, at his request, in order to put forward a battery of proposals aimed at offering support to people with greater difficulties on the one hand, and to reduce the spread of the coronavirus, on the other.
Serrano, who has expressed his group's total loyalty with the measures adopted in that Committee, considers that "as the days go by and checking the virulence of this global pandemic, it is necessary to adapt the measures and also expand them to reach the last person in the last corner of the municipality ".
For this reason, it proposes to suspend municipal or concessionary services that are not essential at this time and, above all, to exclude from the minimum services personnel over 60 years of age, as they are a group of special vulnerability.
In this sense, he considered "irresponsible that the Councilor for Parks and Gardens is demanding and allowing works and works that are not a priority during this pandemic"
Likewise, he has asked to be especially cautious during the next week, from March 23 to 29.
In addition to the provisional closure and intensive cleaning of offices where people have been in quarantine, Serrano proposes that the spotlight be placed especially on vulnerable people and that is why the Socialist Group believes it necessary to create a Specific Commission for Social Welfare and to elaborate a list of needs that can be financed from the line provided by the central government.
Also, it is important to enable a virtual channel with all the entities involved in caring for the homeless and to have a census on this group.
"We must rescue people housed in infra-housing, all confinement cannot remain that way," said the spokesman.
Likewise, he warns that he is aware that the staff of the Home Help service are not having all the guarantees of security or basic training.
"Let's not forget that you are working with a group that is very vulnerable to coronavirus, staff must protect themselves to protect users of the service."
Regarding children, he asks for exhaustive information on the distribution of food to children with a dining room scholarship to find out if it is working perfectly and demands that families be exempted from paying fees from the municipal public nursery schools.
The socialist spokesman calls for troops from the Military Emergency Unit to enforce the recommendations, especially in neighborhoods with security problems, but also, along with Red Cross and Civil Protection volunteers, to help the elderly in the supply of medicines and foods.
In this sense, it is proposing an agreement with Radio Taxi Murcia to expedite the delivery of food and essential items from places and markets to people with difficulties.
"In this way we will also ensure that another group such as the taxi drivers, whose income is being greatly affected, have an alternative."
In the coming days, the Municipal Group will propose more measures such as the reopening of the San Ginés fire station in order to minimize the number of quarantined personnel in the event of a contagion in other barracks, as well as other proposals of an economic nature.
Serrano, who continues to work in the Emergency Department of the Morales Meseguer Hospital, warns that we are dealing with a virus whose spread is very rapid and all the measures and recommendations are few to slow down the number of those infected, so "it is necessary that all the residents and neighbors of our municipality maintain this extraordinary effort "and adds that" this situation will pass and between all of us we must avoid it being with the minimum effects ".
