The Public Health Committee of the municipality of Murcia, chaired by Mayor José Ballesta and attended by spokesmen from all the municipal political groups and representatives of the Municipal Health Service and the Local Police, held a new meeting this afternoon to continue establishing actions that prevent the spread of the coronavirus in the municipality of Murcia.
During the meeting, it was agreed that the weekly markets of La Fama and Santa María de Gracia will be suspended as of tomorrow as they are the ones with the highest influx and where there is the greatest risk of contagion, while the supply markets remain open although Additional hygiene measures and greater control of food handling will be carried out.
Likewise, the 76 senior centers and 76 women's centers in the municipality are closed and activities are suspended for bringing together a large population at risk.
Likewise, activities are suspended in the three youth spaces of the municipality (El Palmar, Puente Tocinos and 585 m2) attended by more than 25 people, while the decision on the closure of libraries, study rooms and nursery schools will be evaluated together with the Autonomous Community to make a joint decision.
In addition, all the activities held in the 54 cultural centers of the municipality are postponed from next Friday, March 13 to April 20.

Likewise, the Planetarium of the Museum of Science and Water has already been closed and guided and school visits to municipal museums have been canceled.
Both the exhibition halls and the municipal museums will remain open, although the activities to be held in these centers are suspended from March 13 to April 20.
Likewise, the programming scheduled in the municipal auditoriums and theaters until April 20 is halted and, from the Culture Service, attempts will be made to postpone other dates whenever possible.
Those who have already purchased the tickets can request their return.
Other activities planned on public roads, such as the Sottovoce Murcia classical music concert series or the Jazz Festival, are postponed to other dates still to be determined.
From the City Council, the convenience of suspending or postponing all events held in districts with a large influx of people will be transmitted to all the Presidents of Municipal Boards.
In addition, they have been given a series of recommendations to protect people's health.
Likewise, the River Festival, of the Huerta Week scheduled for next Sunday, and the Welcome to Spring to be held in La Glorieta are postponed.
Regarding events organized in collaboration with other entities, the Committee has also been informed of various agreed measures.

Sports and educational activities
As for sports activities, weekend competitions in football halls and fields are postponed and only three games will be held behind closed doors (UCAM-Getafe; Real Murcia-Ponferrada and UCAM Murcia BSR-Students).

It is also recommended that meetings outside Murcia be suspended or made by videoconference.
Regarding selection processes, the opposition of laboratory assistant technicians scheduled for April 2 in which there are more than 100 people registered is postponed.
In civil weddings held at the Town Hall, only 25 people may enter the Plenary Hall.
"We continue to work because our priority right now is the health of Murcians and we will continue to adopt in a responsible way those measures that are necessary in order to minimize the elements of risk," said the Mayor.
Ballesta thanked "the Health Service of the City Council, which is the one that is coordinating all these measures, and the spokespersons of all the municipal groups who in a very generous way join in this type of decision."
