Zeneta schoolchildren participate in the planting of new trees within the Forest Plan (06/03/2020)

The school joins the environmental strategy of the City Council with the planting of 20 specimens, including bauhinias and paulonias, which will provide the natural shade patio.

The students have received a didactic talk and then have participated in the tree plantation with the help of the municipal technicians.

The Forest Plan is the strategy of the City of Murcia to double the forest mass of the municipality, from 100,000 to 200,000 trees.

Thus, throughout the weeks, plantations are carried out in different locations and spaces of the municipality and in charge of different groups and with people of all ages, from young, old, school and neighbors.

Today it was the turn of the students of the CEIP Sacred Heart of Zeneta, who have contributed to the planting of new trees in the schoolyard, thus providing their environment with more natural shade for the hottest months of the year.

The students, from 5th grade of Primary Education, have received a didactic talk about the benefits of the activity and, subsequently, have carried out the action of the hand of the municipal technicians.

Specifically, these activities have already been carried out at the Painter Pedro Cano centers in El Palmar, the Juan XXIII school in El Ranero and the CEIP Juan Carlos I in Llano de Brujas, San Andrés de Murcia, Nuestra Señora de la Arrixaca, the Infant School of La Paz, at the Puente Doñana de La Albatalía school, at Francisco Salzillo de Los Ramos and at the IES Miravete de Torreagüera.

More than 4,000 trees planted

The 2030 Forestry Plan has already managed to plant 4,223 trees since its commissioning.

The City Council has planned the activity distributing it in schools, Murcia Río, districts, different social actions such as the 'Parks, music and action' program, plantations with schools, youth associations or the third sector or those carried out in the municipal zoo Terra Natura, among many others.
