The University of Murcia opens this Thursday, March 5, the exhibition 'Teatrabstralia' by T. Colomina, which will take place in the small hall of the UMU Museum, at 8 pm.
'Teatrabstralia' is a pun that comes from the union of 'theater' and 'abstract', terms that in principle do not seem to have a common link.
However, as Teresa Colomina explains, "to get to understand a theatrical character it is necessary to deepen the feelings that move and characterize it" and "through abstract painting it is possible to express emotions through the use of color".
Therefore, the artist considered a study of emotions, color and some of the most representative figures of classical theater through abstract painting.
In the words of playwright Fulgencio Martínez Lax, "Teresa Colomina opens the door of color to get into the hidden suggestion of paradigmatic characters of our cultural memory such as Julieta, Ofelia, Hamlet, Yorick, Segismundo, and Celestina".
"In the universe of the abstract, where the world that moves away from reason resides, Colomina creates spaces using dominant colors to bring out the sensations that these dramatic characters carry in their theatrical suitcase," he adds.
The works can be visited until April 1 from Monday to Friday, from 11 am to 2 pm and from 6 pm to 8:30 pm.
