The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia has developed a comprehensive search device for an elderly person who disappeared during the afternoon yesterday from his home in Murcia, which culminated only a few hours later with his location in apparent good health.
The proceedings began at the end of yesterday afternoon, March 2, when the Murcia Civil Guard central, through its emergency telephone number 062, received an alert related to the disappearance in the Murcia village of Alquerías of a person elderly and suffering from mental illness.
The Civil Guard, after verifying the facts, activated the protocol provided for these cases aimed at collecting all possible evidence of the missing person and the reasons for his absence in order to locate him as soon as possible.
The first inquiries made it possible to verify that the disappeared, 82 years old and suffering from Alzheimer's disease, resides in an orchard area of the Murcia village of Alquerías and that he had gone for a walk and had not returned to his home.
The Civil Guard, with several patrols of Prevention of Citizen Security, coordinated with local Police of Murcia, as well as with family and volunteers to develop the search device in the most efficient way.
The search device was started from the area where the missing person lives and neighboring towns, with special emphasis on the area of the Segura river, and paid off a few hours later when a Civil Guard patrol, which carried out tasks of search in the Murcian district of Santa Cruz, located an elderly person in an ATM of a bank.
Civil guards made sure that it was the missing person, that he was in apparent good health, although they showed signs of disorientation, confusion and hypothermia.
Finally family members took over the octogenarian.
