The Vice Chancellor for Research and Internationalization of the University of Murcia (UMU), María Senena Corbalán, has held a meeting with the Ambassador of Haiti in Spain, Claude Joseph, who has visited the Region with the aim of establishing academic cooperation and research ties between the UMU and the State University of Haiti.
The ambassador was accompanied by the Vice Chancellor for Studies of the Haitian University, Herold Toussain.
The earthquake in Haiti in 2010 destroyed much of the country and university infrastructure, so for the Haitian authorities it is crucial to train their students in Spain so that they can return later to contribute to the reconstruction of the country.
During his visit to Murcia, the delegation of the Caribbean country was also received by the president of the CARM and signed a working document with the Ministry of Employment, Research and Universities to promote university cooperation.
