The Councilor for Sustainable Mobility and Youth, Rebeca Pérez, and the one for Education and Infantile Schools, Belén López Cambronero, visited the CEIP Federico de Arce this morning, a school in which the initiative 'By bike to school', launched underway by the Municipal Bicycle Office.
With this didactic activity, aimed at 6th grade students, it is intended to teach participants how to use the bicycle in a responsible manner, to publicize all the necessary safety elements to ride the bicycle, both mandatory and recommended, and to practice the basic signaling of the maneuvers to be performed when riding a bicycle.
The session will last for approximately one hour and it will offer a theoretical part on cyclist safety, a basic maneuver signaling circuit and a final evaluation.
Thus, the students will learn to correctly signal the basic maneuvers when they ride a bicycle, looking, signaling and looking again.
Councilwoman Rebeca Pérez has explained that "we want to instill in our young people the 'Triple S', health, sustainability and safety while we ride the bicycle, improving their skills and abilities to face correctly the difficulties that can be encountered in their movements."
For his part, Belén López has indicated that "we want to take bicycles to classrooms, so that students learn to use it safely so that it becomes their means of transport to educational centers, thus collaborating in turning Murcia into a more sustainable city ".
