On Thursday, February 27, at 12 noon, the investiture act will be held in the Paraninfo of the University of Murcia as Doctor Honoris Causa of Alfonso Rodríguez Gutiérrez de Ceballos, Professor of Art History and Academic of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts from San Fernando.
Graduated in Philosophy in 1954 from the Pontifical University of Comillas, in History by the Complutense in 1960, and in Theology from the Leopold-Franzes University in Innsbruck, as well as a Doctor in History by the Complutense in 1965, Rodríguez Gutiérrez has been Professor of History of the Art of the Autonomous University of Madrid and professor emeritus of the same center since 2002.
It is one of the most veteran Spanish art historians.
At 88, he remains active in his tenacity to investigate and continue teaching about what he is most passionate about: the art world.
Disciple of the also art historian José Camón Aznar, Alfonso Rodríguez, expanded his studies at the University of Munich in the first 60, specializing in fields such as the Renaissance, the Baroque or Mannerism, a subject almost unknown in Spain at that time, which he introduced in our country, as well as the parties, sermons, the theater, its scenery and its stage, as incipient mass media that shape particular mentalities and collective imaginary.
Alfonso Rodríguez is the new Doctor Honoris Causa of the University of Murcia, number 62 of a payroll that opened in 1977 with the musician from Lorca, Narciso Yepes.
