The City of Murcia, through the Department of Urban Agenda and Open Government, led by Mercedes Bernabé, has participated in the IV Forum of Cities 2020, organized by the European Commission in Porto.
The Portuguese city hosted for two days this event in which experts presented the common achievements and reflected on the urban development of the Social Cohesion Policy, including the implementation of the Urban Agenda for the European Union at the local level, in which Murcia It is a pioneer along with A Coruña nationwide.
The session, through the service of European Programs, has shown how to work on technological solutions and how climate and environmental problems are addressed in specific places in the city.
Likewise, the delegation participated, together with experts from the European Commission, technicians and heads of municipal services of other councils, in the development of proposals for different cities that, like Murcia, present good practices using the European Development Funds Regional (ERDF Funds).
In addition, Murcia showed measures to strengthen the local economy and digital transformation, in addition to participating in workshops and parallel meetings with technicians and directors of the commission related to the different urban initiatives at European level.
“The municipality sounds strongly in Europe for the number of projects in which we are immersed, but also for the quality of the work that is carried out in relation to the Urban Agenda and the Horizon 2020 R + D + i programs,†explains the councilwoman.
