The San Basilio measuring station on Sunday recorded a daily average of 39 µg / m3 of PM10 particles.
The free urban public transport and deterrent parking, measures agreed by the air pollution episode operational committee, have contributed to this improvement in air quality.
Thus, the measures implemented by the City Council and the collaboration of Murcia have allowed reducing CO2 emissions to the atmosphere by 3 tons last Friday and Saturday.

While on Saturday 25 an occupation of 21.10% was registered, when that of Saturday 18 was 13.15%.
As for traffic, on Friday and Saturday, 3,186 fewer vehicles were registered at the entrances to the city, which meant a reduction of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere of 2.95 tons.
The most pronounced decrease in circulation intensity was at the points of entry into the city such as Ronda Sur, Juan Carlos I and Juan de Borbón, obtaining daily reduction values of between 4% and 5%.
The time slot where the greatest reduction in traffic is observed was from 8:00 to 10:00 hours on Friday, reaching 8%.
The Mayor, José Ballesta, has thanked "the thousands of Murcia who have demonstrated their responsibility and civility during these days, betting on public transport to the detriment of the private vehicle, since to minimize these episodes of pollution we have to go hand in hand public institutions and citizens. The response of Murcia and Murcia to this situation has been really exciting and overwhelming. "
Ballesta has continued saying that "from the City Council we have responded quickly and effectively to this situation without skimping on efforts and demonstrating that what matters to us is to preserve and protect the health of all Murcia."
Murcia is one of the few Spanish cities that has a similar protocol, whose character is preventive and aims to put the health of people over any other consideration.
Before this episode, the Mayor convened last Thursday the operational committee of air pollution episode, which adopted additional measures to those established in level 2, such as free public transport and parking deterrents, in order to minimize this situation .
