In recent days we have seen in the streets of the city of Murcia how many cars have been looted, causing major damage to vehicles.
This fact has been seen for example in the deterrent car park of "La Molineta", located near the Barrio de El Carmen.
According to article 53 g) of Organic Law 2/1986, of March 13, on Security Forces and Bodies, the local police must: "carry out preventive procedures and how many actions tend to prevent the commission of criminal acts within the framework of collaboration established in the Security Boards ".
Therefore, in this case, surveillance in some public spaces is being low, thus causing a large number of criminal acts.
This is a clear example that citizen security is being scarce due to the lack of police forces.
This is a problem that has been going on for months, since since last August 2019, several police unions denounced the decline of special and emergency services in the Murcian consistory.
In line with the above, it should also be noted that the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces recommends a rate of 1 local police per 667 inhabitants.
On the other hand, the European Union recommends the existence of 1.8 local police officers per 1000 inhabitants, which would be 1 police officer for every 556 inhabitants.
Therefore, in Murcia capital, there should be a workforce of approximately 800 agents performing their functions, there are currently 600 or so.
From CONTIGO we consider that citizen security is paramount and, therefore, essential for living together.
Therefore, we want the staff of the local police to expand to fill vacancies, so that the criminal acts that may occur are reduced and also comply with current regulations of the European Union.
