The University of Murcia (UMU) and Hidrogea have signed this Thursday, January 16, the collaboration agreement that will allow the creation of the Chair of Water Ecoefficiency, whose purpose will be the establishment of a space dedicated entirely to research, training and dissemination in the field of integral water cycle management and, more specifically, in the field of sanitation and wastewater treatment.
This chair and its activities are framed within the objectives of circular economy and sustainable development with the intention that both teachers and students and professionals from the sector participate in it.
The rector of the UMU, José Luján, and the general director of Hidrogea, Inmaculada Serrano Sánchez, have been in charge of signing the agreement, in an act that has taken place in the Convalescence building, headquarters of the Rectorate.
Luján has been satisfied with the implementation of this chair and has emphasized that "the collaboration with business organizations in the investigation of the use of natural resources, the investigation of progress in the adoption of measures and the promotion of sustainable development they are a social commitment of the University of Murcia ".
On the other hand, Inmaculada Serrano explained that "in Hidrogea we make an important commitment every day not only to provide the best service in water supply and purification, but also to apply the values ​​of sustainability, innovation and social development in all those municipalities in those that are present, as a result of this commitment, projects such as the chairs with the UPCT and the UCAM, energy efficiency projects, circular economy or social innovation were born, but we were missing a fundamental project; we needed to join the University of Murcia and specifically to the Faculty of Chemistry, to complete alliances that have to lead us to further improve all the service we provide in the Region of Murcia with something as important as water. "
Under the Chair of the Chair, joint R & D & I programs, student internships to develop Final Degree Projects and Master Final Projects, prizes, technical conferences, etc. will be promoted.
In addition, among its objectives is also to launch specific training courses specialized in efficient water management.
Among the planned activities, the call for scholarships so that students can specialize by working in the company in the efficient management of water.
The Chair of Water Eco-efficiency will have a contribution from Hidrogea of ​​a maximum of 15,000 euros for the development of the different activities.
