About 300 flamenco artists will fill the city of Murcia with art on January 18 and 19 (15/01/2020)

Murcia will be the international capital of flamenco next weekend.

The city will host the first meeting of Flamenco Schools of Andalusia Arco Mediterráneo, which was presented this morning by the Councilor for Sustainable Mobility and Youth, Rebeca Pérez, the international dancer and professor at the Flamenco School of Andalusia, Juan Ogalla and Rubén Calderón, responsible for the headquarters in Murcia.

Thus, about 300 flamenco artists will meet in Murcia the next 18 and 19 days to participate in different types of activities such as specialized workshops, exhibitions between schools at the Romea Theater, shows, exhibitions in historic squares, flashmob at the foot of the Cathedral , Murcian gastronomy ...

The art of flamenco, declared Intangible and Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, will be the center of interest of the meeting whose mission will be directed to the union and coexistence between Flemish schools and people with concerns and knowledge of this art, to live, transmit and share flamenco in all its aspects.

These days are focused for all the EFA academies of the Mediterranean Arc, from Marseille to Cádiz, through Valencia or Almería, with EFA academies invited from other cities, giving rise to an event with about 300 students and more than twenty specialized professors

Thus, flamenco workshops have been organized, at levels of initiation, medium, advanced and professional, by Juan Ogalla (EFA Murcia), Encarna López (EFA Córdoba), La Truco (EFA Parla) and Nella Madarro (EFA Murcia)

In addition, the Romea Theater will host a gala with the different performances of the students of each of the participating schools and the show 'Dance stop telling' by Juan Ogalla

Likewise, EFA schools will show their art in Alfonso X El Sabio, Plaza de los Apóstoles and Plaza Julián Romea and a flamenco flashmob will be held in Belluga Square in which students from different schools will participate along with some flamenco professionals that come from the hand of the Carmen Romero Dance Academy.

Saturday, January 18

9.30 --- Reception of schools at the headquarters of Murcia (Carmen Romero Dance Academy)

10.00 --- Workshops (flamenco and EFA teachers)

17.30 --- Reception of schools at the Romea Theater and presentation of a new collection of flamenco clothes 5 flowers.

18.00 --- Gala shows EFA schools

20.00 --- End of gala and tasting of products of Murcia companies

21.00 --- Flamenco show 'Bailar paro telling' by Juan Ogalla

Sunday, January 19

10.30 --- Reception of schools in the Squares of Murcia

11.00 --- Performance of schools in different squares and emblematic sites of the city.

13.00 --- Flemish Flashmob with all schools, Plaza Cardenal Belluga

14.00 --- Giant paella and Murcian products with flamenco animation (Carmen Romero Dance Academy Facilities)
