The Department of Sustainable Mobility and Youth, directed by Rebeca Pérez, continues with the Road Safety Improvement Plan of the municipality with the installation of more than 300 linear meters of protection barriers, along with the adaptation of roadway and horizontal signage on Avenida del Majal Blanco, in the Torreguil area, Sangonera la Verde.

In addition, 100 of these 300 meters of containment systems have been complemented with Motorcyclist Protection Systems, especially in curved areas.

"With this we intend to contribute to reduce the severity of injuries of two-wheelers since motorists are one of the most vulnerable users of public roads."

This action that is part of the Road Safety Improvement Plan of the Traffic Service to eliminate those points where a high accident rate is detected that is being executed after performing a work of analysis of the composition, location, state and need of the elements of traffic management of different roads to determine possible weaknesses and establish the degree of action.

This plan includes a total of 16 actions in different ways to improve road safety for vehicles and pedestrians through actions that are mainly based on the installation of vehicle containment systems and the provision of horizontal and / or vertical signaling with an approximate estimate of cost of realization of 52,000 euros.

The next planned action will be the Alias ​​roundabout where the following works will be carried out:

- Modification of the traffic light regulation that gives access to the roundabout from El Palmar, making it work as a speed control with crosswalk

- Reinforcement of the existing signaling direction El Palmar-Murcia (AIMPE type signs just before the roundabout): The service considers it convenient to reinforce the existing signaling of the roundabout taking advantage of the flag located at about 70 meters, placing the roundabout pre-signaling

- Improvement of horizontal and vertical signaling: in order to produce a traffic calming, the necessary signaling will be carried out with road markings (in its last stretch of road marking) and milestones with reflective strips to reduce the two existing lanes to one, with The objective is to reduce the speed of the vehicles that access the roundabout.
