Murcia has returned, once again, to register a high degree of participation during the more than 500 events scheduled this Christmas, reaching historic attendance figures.
The Three Kings' Cavalcade remains the event with the largest number of audiences, registering more than 85,000 attendees this year.
Murcia and visitors enjoyed a parade set in the cinema, in which about a thousand people participated.
In addition, to these figures, we must add the audience that followed the ride through 7 Television, which reached 203,000 viewers.
Among the most visited scenarios repeat the great Christmas Tree.
More than 400,000 people have passed through the Circular Plaza space this year to enjoy a program full of workshops, activities and shows for the whole family.
Specifically, the ignition, which took place on December 7, brought together 50,000 attendees in this place in the heart of Murcia.
Another of the busiest environments during these weeks has been the Plaza de la Glorieta, where more than 100,000 visitors have passed.
Attendees have been able to do their shopping again at the Mercadillo, composed of 30 Murcian brands, have enjoyed live music from 25 local artists, in addition to the fair of attractions for children.
It should be noted that La Glorieta was also chosen by about 5,000 people to celebrate the New Year's Eve party with a gala that could be followed, one more year, live through 7 Television.
In this way, we must add the more than 27,000 spectators who fired the year from home.
The acts of Santa Claus continue to be preferred for children and adults.
More than 10,000 visitors have passed through La Casita, located on Besabé Street, during Christmas.
Santa Claus arrived in Murcia on December 21 with a music and dance show at Plaza Belluga that was lived by about 6,000 people.
In addition, the shows that have been held in the Plaza de la Catedral, such as Red Velvet, Christmas Rock, Christmas Sones, the 7ART and the aerobatics performances, have gathered about 34,000 attendees.
"The positive data of these dates are the result of the work and effort of all the people who have collaborated so that the Christmas of Murcia is at the forefront of all of Spain," highlights the Councilor for Culture and Heritage Recovery, Jesús Pacheco.
In addition, the mayor thanks all the groups that have worked during these weeks, including security, monitors, cleaning services, technicians, organization, ensuring the welfare and leisure of citizens, as well as institutions and sponsors who have contributed to their celebration.
Security and tranquility
The Special Christmas Plan has been made up of about 500 troops, apart from ordinary services.
There are 115 Civil Protection volunteers, 57 firefighters and 300 Local Police officers.
The purpose of the device was to guarantee the mobility and road safety of citizens, on the one hand, and to promote theft prevention and unauthorized street sales.
Hotel Occupation
As announced by the Department of Tourism, in terms of hotel occupancy, from December 22 to January 1 has been 44%, and an average price of 56 euros, two euros more compared to the same period of the last year.
The record tourism figure was recorded during New Year's Eve, reaching a hotel occupancy of 87.57 and an average price of 65 euros per person per day, which means a rise of four euros compared to 2018.
The number of users of tourist offices during the month of December has increased by more than 29% compared to 2018, from 21,857 to 28,222, the number of foreign tourists being especially significant, which has experienced a 32% rise compared to last year, standing at a total of 3,880.
The tourist offices of Murcia have also received more national tourists than other years, a 4.34% increase;
as has happened with users from the municipality itself, 38.17% more than in 2018, reaching a total of 16,731;
and with citizens from other parts of the Region, which have gone from 12,677 of 2018 to 17,856 of 2019.
Theater viewers
The cultural offer in theaters for these dates must be added to the Christmas program.
Approximately 17,000 spectators have attended the performances that have taken place in the theaters of the city.
Specifically, the Romea Theater, with 13,000 attendees, has hosted the musical 'Aladdin', from December 21 to 30, and 'Puss in Boots' on January 2, 3 and 4.
The Circus Theater, with 4,000 spectators, has had the show 'Zoo Cabaret-Spanish Bizarro' and the puppet show 'Dreaming the carnival of animals'.
The Circus Festival 'Murcia at Christmas', another novelty of this year, was held from December 12 to 15 in different squares and gardens of the city.
Nearly 9,000 people have enjoyed the shows.
El Belén, a tourist attraction
The Bethlehem is still a tourist attraction in the municipality of Murcia.
Thousands of people have passed this year through the different nativity scenes exhibited in different parts of the city, in neighborhoods and districts.
Specifically, the Neapolitan Bethlehem, performed by Cayetano Gálvez Serrano, which has been exhibited in the Episcopal Palace, has been visited by an average of between 2,000 and 2,500 people daily.
The Living Bethlehem of El Raal is still an appointment for these dates through which some 10,300 people have passed during the seven days of its celebration, two full days and five afternoons.
The City Council has published a guide of nativity scenes with a view to a total of 30 facilities throughout the municipality, such as in Alquerías, Santa María de Gracia, Puente Tocinos, Monteagudo, La Alberca, Casillas, El Puntal, Rincón de Seca and Santiago and Zaraiche , among others.
Other acts
About 3,000 people enjoyed the pyromusical show '2020: A year to eat it' on New Year's Day while another 3,000 people have boarded the Segura River during every day of the holiday season.
The good weather has contributed to Murcia and visitors wanting to walk through this environment of the city center.
The exhibition spaces have also had a large number of people.
The activities scheduled at the Artillery Barracks, both those aimed at children, the Christmas Candy exhibition, in Hall 2, and the Christmas Halls in Hall 1 and those of the Carmen Artistic Laboratory (LAC) have reached 35,000 people during this Christmas
Half a thousand attendees have enjoyed the activities of the Municipal Library Network of Murcia, between December 19, 2019 and January 3, 2020. 'The Spirit of Christmas' and 'Celebrating the winter solstice' have been the actions held in all centers, except that of 'Río Segura.
The Straw Square and the Juan González Moreno Sculptor Promenade hosted a new edition of Mixtura on the weekend of December 14 and 15, a market consisting of more than 40 international craft and 13 gastronomy stalls.
Some 3,000 people passed through this market with products from Ecuador, Argentina or Bolivia.
The City Museum has registered a total of 2,621 visits during the Christmas program, between the permanent, temporary exhibitions and the different guides and workshops.
For its part, the Almudí Palace has congregated 1,361, from December 23 to January 7, in its exhibition 'Origins'.
The Museum of Science and Water has been visited by 1,850 people, both at the specific workshops of the Christmas program and at the planetarium.
The districts have welcomed Christmas with different events and celebrations, from carol concerts, nativity scenes, popular foods and street markets.
These events have consisted of a meeting point for neighbors to celebrate these endearing days.
