Recalling the ancient 'Silk Road' that commercially united Europe and Asia since the first century with the silk of China as the main claim, several Eastern and Western universities have recovered that spirit of cultural exchange and have moved it to the field of education physical.
The Catholic University of Murcia (UCAM) has participated in the birth of the 'Silk Road Physical Education Alliance' (Alliance of Physical Education of the Silk Road).
The agreement was signed in Xi'an between universities and institutions that give vital importance to the academic part of the sport: Xi'an Physical Education University (China), Osaka University of Health and Sport Sciences (Japan), Korea National Sport University ( South Korea), Borussia Dortmund (Germany) and the San Antonio Catholic University of Murcia (Spain).
This agreement establishes the bases for a system of exchange of competitions and sports activities between the different members of the alliance to improve the level of physical education.
In addition, exchange programs for students, professors and researchers in the field of sport will be developed.
Prior to signing the agreement, a multidisciplinary Congress was held in which representatives from all participating institutions participated.
The Dean of the Faculty of Sport, Antonio Sánchez Pato, and its deputy director, Alejandro Leiva Arcas, gave a lecture entitled: 'Past, present and future of Spanish Olympism', framed within one of the lines of active research of the Center for Olympic Studies of the UCAM.
