The Governing Board has given its approval to the award of the project to create a 24-hour study room in the current City Hall and the relocation of it in the old building of the San José de la Vega Senior Center.
The current City Hall and the Senior Center is located in independent buildings, separated by a central area that is occupied by the Church.
On the ground floor of the current Mayor's Office a 24-hour study room will be located that will occupy an area close to 60 square meters that will allow the creation of 36 study posts.
In addition, a warehouse, an adapted toilet, and an independent entrance will be enabled along Victoria Street.
The objective is to provide the municipality with adequate space for study in a quiet environment and with the essential concentration and facilities that offer Wi-Fi, power outlets, even at the tables themselves, an Integrated Access Control System via the Internet, with access control, surveillance with camera circuit, intrusion and fire alarms, climate control and lighting, SOS button and connection to central receiver, and lockers or shelves for the deposit of objects.
On the other hand, on the ground floor of the building currently occupied by the Senior Center, the Mayor's Office will be set up, which will have a waiting room, three offices, a meeting room, a Caritas Store, two warehouses and two toilets, one of them adapted.
On the first floor in the senior center, general renovation and painting work will be carried out.
In addition, both floors will be connected with an elevator.
The works, which will be carried out by the Constu-Archena SL company, have an execution period of 6 months and involve an investment of 222,882 euros.
This project is part of the Extraordinary Investment Plan in Pedanías, which coordinates the Department of Pedanías y Barrios, which is directed by Marco Antonio Fernández.
The Department of Pedanías y Barrios is currently working on the creation of another 7 new study rooms in the districts of Aljucer, El Raal, Garres and Lages, Llano de Brujas, Espinardo and Zeneta.
Currently more than 8,000 people make use of the 700 positions that offer these facilities open 24 hours a day and are located in Torreagüera, Sangonera la Seca, Casillas, Los Dolores, Alquerías, Rincon de Seca, Sangonera la Verde, Casillas and Ronda Sur.
In addition, in Cobatillas, Los Martínez del Puerto, Monteagudo and Santo Ángel, a study room service is offered with specific hours in the Cultural Centers.
