Tomás T. Freitas, a researcher at the UCAM High Performance Research Center (CIARD), has received the Applied Science Award, framed by the International Sport Forum Congress in Madrid, which has been organized by Strength & Conditioning Society (SCS ) with the European Sport Nutrition Society (ESNS).
The data of his presentation, entitled "Influence of strength and power on capacity and deficit of change of direction in elite team sports", were collected during a research stay in Brazil and are part of a multi-project downtown of the CIARD and the High Performance Sports Center of São Paulo (NAR).
The sample was made up of rugby players from the Brazilian Olympic and national team and the objective of the study was to identify the physical abilities that characterize more and less efficient players in direction change maneuvers.
