The works of the Los Patos park have consisted of the installation of a new pumping system and the reduction of the draft of the pond, which saves water and improves safety.
This is one of the measures that are part of the '2023 Pool Objective'.
José Ballesta: "The families of San Ginés can already enjoy this green area in the heart of the hamlet, which is one of the favorite places for children to enjoy."
The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, accompanied by the Councilor for Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration, José Guillén, visited the completion of the work that has been carried out in the park of Los Patos, in the hamlet of San Ginés, where Park and Garden technicians have renovated the large 500m2 lake, embellishing this green area in the heart of the hamlet, which is one of the favorite recreational areas for children.
“The families of the San Ginés district can now enjoy the new environment of the Los Patos park, which has a new water pumping system, which prevents sludge generation and improves the quality of life of the fauna that inhabits in the garden, "said the mayor of Murcia, who added that" this action is part of the 'Objective Pool 2023' plan, launched in August, to alleviate the effects of climate change through water, as the main element of our parks and gardens".
Specifically, the works of the Los Patos park have consisted of installing a new pumping system and reducing the draft of the pond, which saves water, among other measures.
Work began at the end of September and involved an investment of 38,000 euros.
A 500m2 lake
The technicians have carried out the reduction of the draft of the pond, decreasing its depth, which has gone from 1 meter to 0.80 meters, which saves water.
Likewise, a new purification and purification system has been installed, a new, more powerful pumping equipment with which the circulation of water is improved, preventing it from pooling and sludge being generated, as well as slowing the proliferation of mosquitoes.
This action, which improves water quality and prevents bad odors from being generated, also positively affects the fauna of the park, mainly formed by ducks.
In addition, the draft reduction also means an increase in safety.
The smaller the depth of the pond, the lower the chances of accidents, increasing the safety of families walking through the area.
Specifically, the lake, with an area of 500 square meters, has a water volume of 190 cubic meters.
Energy efficient lights to beautify the park
Likewise, it has proceeded to the installation of LED lights in the surroundings of the lake, embellishing this park.
In addition, the railing surrounding the pond has been renovated.
The Pool Plan has included actions in the park of Fofó, where the conditions of the pond, the lake of La Seda and the Salitre have also been improved, where the draft of the pond has been reduced and a new waterproofing layer has been placed that avoids that water leaks occur.
