The town hall and the zoo of the city of Murcia carry out this initiative to promote the integration of people with specific needs.
Users tour the park with experts and also enjoy an exhibition of birds of prey.
"Our parks and gardens have to be meeting places for all groups and citizens, accessible places, without barriers and without limitations, as well as unique learning environments," said Councilman José Guillén.
A group of 30 children from the Activities for Children (PAI) Project carried out by the City Council today visited Terra Natura within the program '12 months with you', an initiative of the Department of Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration, as well as Social and Family Rights.
The town hall and the municipal park promote this initiative aimed every month at a specific social group and with which it is intended to promote the integration of people with specific needs.
Thus, the Councilor for Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration, José Guillén, visited Terra Natura this morning to accompany a group of thirty users during their tour of the zoo.
The little ones have learned the activity carried out in the park by guides and animal experts, who have shown them all the details and characteristics of each of the species that inhabit this space.
In addition, attendees have been able to enjoy an exhibition of birds of prey.
"Our parks and gardens have to be meeting places for all groups and citizens, accessible places, without barriers and without limitations, as well as unique learning environments," said Councilman José Guillén.
The program organizes actions for NGOs and entities such as Todos Somos Campus (UMU and ONCE), ACOFAMT, Murcia Norte Social Services Center, D'Genes, Abamurcia, Project 13-17, FADE, ASSIDO, Adaner Murcia, Man Project, Abraham Project and CEOM.
Activities with children
The MYP is a project, aimed at children between 6 and 12 years old, in which socio-educational activities are developed in leisure time, both sports and entertainment, and of different themes such as education in values, child participation, Environment and health.
The students who have visited the park today have come from the hand of Copedeco (Cooperative for Community Development) that works within the Children's Activities Project.
The City Council coordinates this initiative through the Department of Social and Family Rights, directed by Pilar Torres.
An accessible park
Terra Natura is considered a fully accessible enclosure.
The adaptation has been made with contributions from various organizations, which defined the aspects to be taken care of.
For example, climbing accesses have been adapted, tree hollows are filled, closures and entrances to bathrooms have been installed, specific areas for people in wheelchairs have been installed, and improvements in the hearing system have also been applied.
Councilman José Guillén recalls that "Murcia has a network of more than 3,000 green areas and that Terra Natura is the most emblematic park in the city through which tens of thousands of people pass through the year."
