Analyzes the main actions of the Plan to Promote Gastronomic Tourism between January and August, which have had 21 activities and the participation of 694 professionals
The III Bureau of Gastronomic Tourism today brought together 25 representatives of the main associations and companies of the Region of Murcia linked to the sector to analyze the main actions and events that will be carried out during the celebration of 'Murcia Spanish Capital of Gastronomy 2020' and in which the municipalities of the Region will participate.
The promoters have developed a program that has more than a thousand activities and gastronomic events that will reach every corner of the Region.
During the meeting, which was chaired by the Minister of Tourism, Youth and Sports, Cristina Sánchez, it was highlighted that the gastronomic tourist has an expense that is 30 percent higher than that of an average tourist, specifically, 160 euros a day.
"The implementation of this opportunity will be another step in the tourist and hotel takeoff of the city of Murcia and the region as a whole," said the counselor, who said "we will work to put value over the next year in all Spain the potential we have, because we have the best products, gastronomy and cooks ".
He also recalled that "capitality will generate more employment and more opportunities for tourists to know what the Region offers as a gastronomic experience."
Gastronomic Tourism Promotion Plan
Likewise, Sánchez reported on the actions of the Gastronomic Tourism Promotion Plan developed between January and August of this year, which have added 21 activities in which 694 professionals have participated.
The counselor focused on improving the quality of the offer in gastronomic tourism "providing the necessary training and advice to municipalities, companies, entities and professionals in the sector for the design and implementation of actions and products."
In addition, the impulse that has been given to the celebration of singular gastronomic events with the participation in fairs and actions to promote local products, professionals of the sector and the gastronomic culture ('Mi Mar Menor de Salazón') was highlighted. 'SaborÁguilas', 'Saborarte Cieza' or 'Feria del Sol', among others).
Cristina Sánchez referred to the product positioning.
"We have transferred to society the main values ​​of regional gastronomy and its offer with advertising actions that have reflected the work done in specialized magazines, with press conferences, interviews, as well as through the presence in fairs such as 'Fitur' and events like 'Spanien am Main' at the Museumsuferfest in Germany ".
The table also addressed the most outstanding activities of the last four-month period such as 'GastroTea', the International Fruit and Vegetable Fair 'Fruit Fusion', the event 'Soup of Letters' and 'Region of Gastronomic Murcia', among others.
Among the novelties that will be launched in December, the new image of the 'Blog 1.001 Flavors', the collaboration in the Christmas workshops organized by the City of Murcia, the participation in the event 'Cocido Solidario' and the 'Gastronomy Awards' '.
