The City Council invites all municipalities to present their most outstanding parties and celebrations in the city of Murcia and offer a simultaneous demonstration of their gastronomy.
The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, has indicated that, on the occasion of the capital of Murcia as a Spanish city of Gastronomy 2020, the municipality will host “45 gastronomic days dedicated exclusively to each municipality in the Regionâ€.
José Ballesta sent this Friday a letter to each of the mayors and mayors of Murcia, in which he invited them to join this celebration, which represents a national recognition of Murcian cuisine and products from the Huerta de Murcia.
“Our sincere wish is for this event to reach the entire Region of Murcia.
We want it to be an open and participatory celebration in which we show Spain and the whole world what we are capable of doing in our beloved Region of Murcia in gastronomic matters, â€says the councilor, who continues his letter pointing out that“ our greatest satisfaction is that all municipalities are represented and have the opportunity to show your gastronomic excellence, designations of origin, restaurants and hotels, agricultural and livestock production, agri-food companies, etc. â€.
Presentation of local parties with tastings
Among the proposals of the city of Murcia to all Murcia municipalities, highlights the celebration, over the next year, of a day for each municipality.
This day may include exhibitions or samples of products, elaborations or artistic and cultural manifestations related to the gastronomy of each place.
For this, the City Council will put at your disposal the Murcian theaters, the Almudí Palace, streets and squares, the Artillery Barracks, cultural centers, the headquarters of the Town Hall in La Glorieta, etc.

On the occasion of the election of Murcia as the Spanish Capital of Gastronomy 2020, the City Council, together with the Community, is closing the programming of the hundreds of events that the municipality will host throughout the four seasons: 'The lemon winter ',' The eternal spring blooms', 'Live the summer' and 'Autumn with a glass of wine'.
The mayor José Ballesta also proposes to the Consistory of the Region the organization of cultural events (musical, theatrical, artistic) in which the gastronomic offer of each place is included, gastronomic days led by a restaurateur or chef featured in the municipality in question , as well as its participation in Fairs or markets in which the products of each municipality are integrated.
