The children take the House of all Murcia (21/11/2019)

About 150 schoolchildren have participated today in the Children's Plenary Session of the City of Murcia on the occasion of the Declaration of the Rights of the Child, approved by the UN on November 20, 1959. José Ballesta points out that "Murcia can be very calm with the following generations who will occupy the positions of responsibility in our institutions tomorrow. "

“Listen to children to improve the futureâ€, “tolerance stops violenceâ€, “we have a lot to sayâ€, “we are the future, but also the present†and “we claim the right to express our dreams†are some of the reflections made by the 150 schoolchildren of the municipality who participated today in the Children's Plenary Session of the City of Murcia, on the occasion of the Declaration of the Rights of the Child - approved by the UN General Assembly on November 20, 1959 - and the Convention on the Rights of Boys and Girls - approved on November 20, 1989 -.

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the Councilor for Education and Infantile Schools, Belén López, received the children from the schools of Fuenteblanca (Murcia), Vicente Medina (Sangonera la Seca), Our Lady of the Arrixaca (Murcia ) and San Vicente Ferrer (Barrio del Progreso), who took the floor in the House of all Murcia.

José Ballesta highlighted “the enthusiasm, vitality and energy†of schoolchildren and showed his conviction that “this city will be very well governed in the future, since these children have demonstrated their great responsibility and commitment today, so Murcia can be very calm with the next generations that will occupy tomorrow the positions of responsibility in our institutions â€.

They have served as mayor and spokesmen four students of 6th of the aforementioned centers, who claimed that "we want our voice to be heard in every corner."

"We have the right to be educated in a spirit of understanding, respect and tolerance", "we are all equal and all different" and "with effort and collaboration we will transform the city into a cleaner environment, with new green and safer areas" , are some of the reflections made by schoolchildren during the Children's Plenary.

Round of questions about the transformation and history of Murcia

After his interventions, many other students took the floor in plenary and opened a question time to the members of the Municipal Corporation.

The children were interested in the environment, transportation, how a mayor is elected, how long his term lasts, the history of the City of Murcia or what needs to be done to become mayor, among other issues.
