The University of Murcia, through the Vice-Rectorate for Infrastructure Planning and the environmental management system of the Sustainable Campus, has initiated a campaign to collect plastic bags to sensitize students and university staff about the importance of changing consumer habits Looking forward to the Christmas holidays.
The campaign is to encourage the university community to exchange single-use plastic bags for reusable cloth ones.
Specifically, for every 15 plastic bags collected, a reusable cloth bag will be delivered to those who come to the authorized collection points.
With all the material collected, two large Christmas trees will be manufactured that encourage reflection on the generation of waste associated with this productive model;
one of them at the Merced campus on December 16, and another at the Espinardo campus Social Center on December 18.
The University of Murcia is sensitive to the climatic emergency and, in particular, to the global problem caused by pollution derived from the consumption of plastic.
Therefore, aware of his work as a teaching institution and social reference, he feels the responsibility of promoting environmental awareness actions aimed at the university community.
