The Mobile Emergency and Social Assistance Service of the City of Murcia (SEMAS) last night made its first departure from the 'Cold Operation', homeless care device because of the low temperatures.
In this first outing they were accompanied by the Councilor for Social and Family Rights, Pilar Torres
In total, 12 people (10 men and 2 women) were attended, of which five were Spanish, four Bulgarians, a Polish, a Moroccan and a Guinean.
They were given ten coffees, ten foods, three bags and three blankets.
The areas that were covered were El Carmen, Infante, La Fama, Gran Via, Fica, Circular and Primo Rivera
The components of the device are permanently alert but when the temperature drops below 5 degrees the output becomes more exhaustive, providing an information, attention, accompaniment and delivery service for hot drinks, food, sleeping bags or blankets to serve people without home that are in extreme situations, trying to promote their social integration.
Thus, SEMAS will tour the streets, gardens, ATMs and garden areas of the municipality, helping people who sleep on public roads and need it, to whom blankets, sleeping bags, raincoats, hot drinks are delivered. etc., according to the needs of each case.
Depending on the specific circumstances of each person, different resources are also offered, such as the transfer to the center of the Abandoned Jesus Foundation or to the RAIS Foundation, other accommodations, or hospital centers, if necessary, in addition to monitoring .
The Mobile Emergency and Social Assistance Service, made up of social workers from the City Council and Local Police agents, depends on the Department of Social and Family Rights, which Pilar Torres directs.
