The Governing Board today approved the awarding of works related to the adaptation of the environment of several pergolas and their scope of influence in the Barrio de La Paz.
Specifically, the work to improve the pergola 8, corresponding to Lot 1, will be carried out. These actions will be carried out by Juan Gregorio Constructions with a budget of 179,672 euros and within a period of four months.
Adaptation work has also been approved in pergolas 6 and 7, corresponding to Lot 2. The company Desarrollos Técnicos del Levante will be responsible for its execution with a budget of 148,630 euros and within a period of four months.
Both actions are part of the ADN Urbano La Paz initiative, a commitment of the City of Murcia to improve the public spaces proposed by the neighbors and thus encourage participation and coexistence.
Among the measures of this project is to adapt the pergolas, which are the heart of the neighborhood, with the installation of new playgrounds and living areas.
General actions will be carried out in all places such as repairs, painting work, improvement of shade and ceiling, incorporation of new furniture, renovation of lighting and adaptation of green areas.
Specifically, the pergola 8 will feature a mural with the word 'Peace', drawn by the masses of different shrub species and a new pedestrian path created to cross the garden.
It will also improve the connection with the Avenue of Fame with the reform of its sidewalks and new pedestrian walkway, extension of the ramp, which saves the gap between the two squares, and the playground with new elements, such as a zip line competition for children and adults.
In order to encourage the celebration of events and temporary activities on the parking lot, the parking area will be painted and adapted for the occasional realization of futsal matches.
It also contemplates the adaptation of connections to the north and with the school with the repair of pedestrian crossings, sidewalks and new flower beds, as well as the creation of an open school garden, among other actions to increase the bond of belonging and identity between the school and the neighborhood
As for the actions in pergola 6, in addition to those mentioned, the creation of a neighborhood care garden for the planting of aromatic species, the installation of a recreational garden and a new recreational area for children under 0 to 3 years old stands out.
Next to this pergola, the creation of a children's play area and the improvement of the façade of the children's traffic center are also contemplated, as well as the creation of a graffiti on the wall of the transformer towards the pergola.
Pergola 7 will feature the general actions to improve the stay, shade, lighting and furniture.
Finally, next to these last two squares, an urban tapestry will be created that will connect with Avenida Primero de Mayo.
Urban DNA is an initiative of the City of Murcia, with funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), which has the involvement of all departments to revitalize urban, economic and social neighborhoods in the city.
This initiative is being developed in the neighborhoods of Santa Eulalia, El Carmen and La Paz together with the participation of its neighbors.
