The ODSesiones project of the University of Murcia (UMU), framed in the project to promote the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), organizes this Friday, November 15, from 9 am to 1 pm, a guided tour of the Water Treatment Plant of Wastewater (WWTP) Murcia-Este, located in the Rincon del Gallego area, belonging to the Murcian district of Llano de Brujas.
A group of UMU students will leave at 8.45 am from the esplanade of the University Social Center by bus to learn about this facility, which daily treats about 100,000 m3 of wastewater.
Students will know first-hand the process and the integral water cycle, as well as the latest research and development projects undertaken by the company Aguas de Murcia, which manages and operates this plant since 2002.
With an area of ​​12.5 hectares, the Murcia-Este WWTP purifies about 100,000 m3 of water daily, although at specific times it has exceeded its maximum capacity and has reached 140,000 m3 per day.
It is the largest treatment plant in the Region of Murcia and is among the largest in Spain.
